P.A.D.I. Certification Courses

Akumal Dive Adventure’s training facility has a qualified staff of PADI certified instructors. Our small class size allows us to tailor classes to your needs and you to learn at your own pace. We offer a variety of courses from beginner to dive master. Reservations are recommended.

PADI Certification

FREE "DISCOVER SCUBA" CLINIC
This course gives you the experience of breathing air underwater for the first time in the security of our swimming pool. The clinic is free of charge and lasts about one hour.

THE NEXT STEP... PADI RESORT COURSE
This course is an introduction to scuba diving. In the morning you will be instructed in the classroom and pool on the basic skills necessary to scuba dive, including safety procedures, proper use of equipment, and underwater communication. In the afternoon you will dive in the ocean with an instructor. When the course is completed you may dive for up to 14 days under the supervision of an instructor and to depths no deeper than 40 feet. The classroom portion of this course lasts about 3 hours and includes one supervised dive.

PADI OPEN WATER CERTIFICATION
This entry level certification is divided into three modules over 4 days: classroom, pool, and open water training. Upon completion you will receive PADI certification which is recognized worldwide. The cost of the course includes all instruction and diving equipment. Instruction manuals should be purchased in advance from PADI. (800)729-7234.

Note: To prepare ahead of time for the class you should read the first three modules of the manual. Also it is important to check in at the dive shop the day before your course begins.

PADI OPEN WATER REFERRAL
This course allows you to take the pool and classroom modules of the Open Water course at the dive shop in your hometown before you arrive in Akumal. Once your level of knowledge is assessed you will complete the open water training dives in the tropical waters of the Caribbean Sea. The course includes 4 dives over a two day period.

PADI ADVANCED OPEN WATER CERTIFICATION
An introduction to special diving techniques beyond the standard open water course. Under the supervision of a certified PADI instructor core dives include the deep dive and the underwater navigation dive. This course includes five dives over a two day period.

PADI RESCUE DIVER
Divers who participate in this course will learn emergency techniques and accident prevention. This course concentrates on diver awareness and emergency safety procedures.

PADI DIVE MASTER
The entry level to PADI leadership courses, this class is the first step towards becoming a PADI professional instructor. Upon completion, you will be qualified to oversee diving activities, guide divers, and assist instructors.
